Guitar Lessons Online – A Lesson Learned From Pee Wee

I personally did not take guitar lessons online. But that would have been the ideal way for me to do it. Learning from Pee Wee was boring and difficult. Online is a way better way.

PeeWee – that was my guitar teacher’s name. He and his wife owned a music store downtown, and my mother arranged for me to take lessons once a week.

I really wish I could have taken my guitar lessons online. It’s not that PeeWee wasn’t a good teacher. I think he was.. but I certainly was not motivated to learn. He just listened to the scales and songs he had assigned the week before and assigned new scales and songs for the following week.

Not once did he ask me what I wanted to learn. It was right out of the Mel Bay Guitar lessons, a series of books that could make anyone a guitar teacher.

The advantage of learning online these days is that you can choose the kind of lessons you want to take. Want to learn rock guitar? There’s an online source for that. How about Blues Guitar? Yep, there’s a place to learn Blues guitar lessons. Bass Guitar? No problemo, amigo.

PeeWee didn’t know how to get me excited about guitar. After going to lessons for a few months and NOT practicing the boring lessons, I didn’t know how to tell Mom that I was no longer interested, but she kind of figured it out. So I was able to stop taking lessons.

But that did not quench my thirst for learning guitar. I hooked up with a pretty good lead guitar player, and we started a band. I was good enough to play some chords due to Pee Wee’s lessons, so I was the Rhythm Guitarist. It was pretty cool.

We ended up winning an award or two at some local contests. We landed a gig at the local skating rink on Friday nights, too… No thanks to Pee Wee.

Learning guitar has its benefits. So my advice to you is to find a method that works for you. There are plenty of PeeWee’s out there, but try to avoid them. Find a source that excites you. Online teachers are pretty good.

And the price is much better for taking an online guitar class. Think about the hundreds of dollars you will spend going to see “Pee Wee” each week versus the single fee you pay for a total online course. It’s a good deal.

My name is Mark Jimson, and I am not a rock star, but I know that taking guitar lessons online is better than learning from many of the teachers out there. You will be able to match your learning desires with the skills of an online professional guitar teacher. “I’m gonna scare the hell out of you,” intones Stephen King in the trailer for his sole directorial effort, the much-maligned Maximum Overdrive. While the end result doesn’t live up to that boast, this sci-fi/horror tale isn’t as awful as it’s been described. King’s script (based on his short story “Trucks”) focuses on the patrons of a North Carolina truck stop, which comes under attack by a convo…
